Amanda Simon (Greenwood Village, Colo.) scored four goals and had an assist in a 16-4 victory over the visiting Adams State Grizzles. The win was the first home win for the first year program and improved their record to 2-6 and 1-2 in the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.
Brianna True (Fruita, Colo.) scored the first goal of the game at the 28:41 mark of the first half and the Mavericks never looked back. True finished the game with two goals and an assist.
Tayler Lansdown (Aurora, Colo.), Alexis Rawlings (Castle Rock, Colo.), Maria Heilner(Steamboat Springs, Colo.), Tara King (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) all scored two goals for the Mavericks. Allie Henderson (Parker, Colo.) chipped in one goal and had five assists.
Adams State commited five penalties for fifteen minutes worth of penalty time and the Mavericks converted. They converted six goals in the five opportunities that were presented.
Mesa State converted 10-of-13 clears while the Grizzlies were 12-of-27 on their clears.
Lauren Wells (New London, Conn.) earned the win in goal, making eleven saves against only four goals.
This game was the final for four seniors for the Mavericks. Meredith Dolny (Moscow, Idaho), Tara King, Elizabeth Lillie (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), and Tori Burton (Parker, Colo.) all played their final home game for the Mavericks.
The Mavericks will be on the road for their final games. They will back in WILA action on April 3 against Ft. Lewis in Durango, Colo.
