Mavericks Fall in California

                The Mesa State Men's Lacrosse team just completed its three-game California swing. The Mavericks fell to Dominican University on Sunday afternoon 11-6. The Mavericks record falls to 0-6 on the season and 0-3 in Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association play.

 

                The Mavericks were led by Trevor Ecton's (Olathe, Kan.) two goals and Trace Wollner's (Littleton, Colo.) two assists. Defensively, they were led by Johnny Nitti (Las Vegas, Nev.) who caused two turnovers and Stuart Foster (Grand Junction, Colo.) who picked up three groundballs.

 

                Earlier in the week, Mesa State fell to nationally ranked Adelphi 15-2. Adelphi, who is expected to contend for the Northeast 10 Championship, scored eleven unanswered goals and converted 35-of-39 clear attempts.

 

                On Friday, The Mavericks took on the Notre Dame de Namur Argos and came away empty handed in a 10-5 loss. The Mavericks led 3-2 after the 1st period but were outscored 8-2 after that point.

 

                Five different players scored goals for the Mavericks.

 

                Brad Brandenburg (Seal Beach, Calif.) led the Mavericks defensively in goal. Brandenburg finished with 14 saves and 6 groundballs.

 

                The Mavericks will have their first home match of the season and in the programs history next Saturday. Mesa State will take on the Adams State Grizzlies in WILA action at 1:00pm from Walker Field.
