Box Score Mesa State (14-7, 11-6) defeated Chadron State (5-16, 3-14) 70-58 Saturday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action at Brownson Arena.
Kelsey Sigl led all players with a game high 26 points. Sigl scored 18 second-half points and was perfect from the foul line sinking 11 of 11 free throws.
Mesa State shot 32 free throws in the game hitting 27 from the charity stripe. MSC's free throw shooting kept the Mavs in the first half hitting 15 of 15 from line. The Mavericks led the Eagles 32-30 at intermission.
MSC never trailed in the second half and led by as many as 14 points. The Mavericks scored 11 points off Eagle turnovers and 15 points in the paint in the second half.
Amy Weitzeil finished with 12 points, five rebounds and two blocks. Weitzeil was 6 for 6 from the foul line and 3 of 4 from the field.
Katrina Selsor and Hanna Bowden each tallied a game high seven rebounds. Bowden finished with eight points. MSC held a 39-28 rebound margin and forced 17 Eagle turnovers.
Chadron State was led by Jazmyn Webster's team high 15 points and four rebounds. Marla Munsen finished with 13 points.
Mesa State will travel to Western New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands this weekend. MSC returns home February 25-26 to host Adams State College and Fort Lewis in the final regular season home games.
