Lopes Defeat Mavericks in OT, 11-10

          The Mesa State Men's Lacrosse team finished its opening series in Phoenix, Ariz. tonight. The Mavericks dropped a heartbreaker 11-10 in overtime to Grand Canyon University. The Mavericks record drops to 0-3 and 0-1 in Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (WILA) play.

          The Mavericks led 8-6 heading into the fourth period but four Grand Canyon goals in the final period led to overtime. With 40 second left in the overtime period, Grand Canyon scored the golden goal to lock up the win.

          Kade Robinson (Williamstown, Australia) picked up his second hat trick of the week. Robinson scored goals in the first, third and fourth periods. His fourth period goal came with 1:38 left and tied the gam and sent it to overtime. Kade currently leads the Mavs in goals with six.

          Dakota Klossner (Castle Rock, Colo.) picked up five ground balls to add to his team lead of 13. Klossner also went 3-for-6 on his faceoff attempts and added a goal in the first period which was his third of the season.

          Mesa State will be back in action on March 16th as they will take on Nationally Ranked Adelphi on the road in California. On the same road swing, the Mavs will take on WILA foes Notre Dame de Namur and Dominican.
