Box Score Mesa State (14-8, 11-7) women fell to New Mexico Highlands 57-56 on a last second shot by Whitley Coca as time expired in RMAC action Friday night in Las Vegas.
MSC held a 15 point lead (50-35) with 10:38 remaining in regulation when the Cowgirls went on a 22-6 to snatch the victory.
NMHU's Domonique Rivera tied the game at 54-54 with two free throws with 38 seconds left. MSC's Tara Gehring's jumper with 27 seconds gave the Mavs a 56-54 lead. The Cowgirls missed a jumper but pulled down the rebound and called a timeout. NMHU missed a trey and MSC's Katrina Selsor grabbed the rebound and was fouled with eight seconds left. Selsor missed the free throw and Highlands rebounded the ball and called timeout with three seconds on the clock. Highlands threw the ball in at mid-court and Coca's shot banked in at the buzzer.
MSC was led by Kelsey Sigl's game high 18 points. Katrina Selsor finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.
NMHU was led by Coca's 15 points and three assists.
MSC will travel to Western New Mexico for a match-up with the Mustangs Saturday evening in Silver City.
