Colorado Mesa University (4-2, 2-0) extended their win streak to four on Saturday night in a 73-61 victory over University of Neb.-Kearney (0-6, 0-2) at Brownson Arena.
Katrina Selsor led the Mavericks with 18 points, nine rebounds and three steals.
The Mavericks held a 30-27 halftime lead forcing the Lopers in to 12 first half turnovers. Hillary Duncan had eight points and two blocked shots off the bench in the first 20 minutes for CMU.
CMU opened the second half on a 5-0 run for its largest lead (35-27) in the game at the 18:20 mark. UNK tied the game at 41-41 with 10:54 remaining in regulation. CMU then went on a 13-0 spurt for a 54-41 advantage. The Mavericks pushed the lead to 17 points on two occasions, closing out the final eight minutes with a double-digit lead. CMU scored 18-second half points off 13 Loper turnovers.
Selsor led CMU with 18 and Kelsey Sigl finished with 17 points and three blocks. Tara Gehring added 10 points. CMU hit 25 of 32 free throws and forced the Lopers in to 25 turnovers.
UNK was led by Debi Johnson's game high 23 points.
CMU will take to the road this coming weekend as they travel to Western New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands.
