Box Score Sharaya Selsor scored 16 of her 21 points in the first half to lead the Mavericks (11-5, 8-4) to a 73-45 win over visiting Colorado School of Mines (7-10, 3-9) on Friday night at Brownson Arena. Sharaya was 8 of 10 from the floor and finished with three assists and two steals.
MSC had five players in double digits including four starters. Katrina Selsor finished with 15 points and a game high four assists. Tara Gehring had 13 points off the bench and Kelsey Sigl added 12 points and five rebounds.
Amy Weitzeil had a career high and her first double-double of the season with 10 points and a game high 11 rebounds.
Colorado Mines opened the game with a jumper by Becca Gaffney before the Mavs ran off 16 consecutive points, holding the Orediggers scoreless for nine minutes.
MSC's held a 39-20 halftime lead scoring 20 points off 15 Oredigger turnovers.
The Mavericks maintained the double digit lead throughout the second half leading by as much as 32 points (73-41) with 2:53 remaining in regulation.
MSC dominated the boards (43-27) and shot 42.9 percent (24-56) from the floor. The Mavs hit 19 of 22 from the foul line and hit 6 of 15 from beyond the arc.
CSM shot 32.7 percent (17-52) from the field and connected on just 3 of 14 from the 3-point line.
Becca Gaffney led the Orediggers with 20 points and nine rebounds.
