The 18th Ranked Adams State Grizzlies proved to be a little too much tonight for the Mavericks. Adams State prevailed in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Dual 24-15. Mesa State's record fell to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the RMAC, while Adams State improved to 4-2 and 2-1 in the RMAC.
The dual started at 149 pounds and Mesa State's
Pat Lehnan (Douglas, Wyo.) recieved a forfeit and gave the Mavericks the early 6-0 lead. Then, Adams State would pick up a major decision victory at 157 pounds to put the score at 6-4 in favor of the Mavericks.
The Mavericks and the Grizzlies would split the next four matches to put the Mavericks at the same four point lead, 15-11. Mesa State picked up wins from
Dylan Granard (Woodinville, Wash.) at 165 pounds and from
Kyle Brightman (Cheynne, Wyo.) at 184 pounds.
The Grizzlies would win the next four matches to ice the dual 24-15.
The Mavericks road trip will continue tomorrow night in Las Vegas, N.M. as they will take on the N.M. Highlands Cowboys.
