Mavs Advance to Championship Game

Beat Regis 4-0

Sara Jordan pitched her second shutout in the RMAC Tournament and picked up her third win in two days as the Mavericks defeated Regis University 4-0 to advance to the finals of the 2010 RMAC Softball Tournament in Denver. MSC is the only undefeated team and will play the winner of the Regis / Metro State game Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The Rangers and Roadrunners will play an elimination game Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

Jordan's victory improved her record t0 14-9 on the year. She allowed seven hits, walked two and struck out two.

MSC scored in the bottom of the first on an RBI single to right center by Jordan, scoring Dani Valli who led off the inning with a single down the left field line.

Vallie led off the third inning with a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Katie Mitchell's sacrifice bunt moved Valli to third. She scored on a throwing error by Regis' third baseman allowing Gabi Parra to reach first base and the Mavs to take a 2-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, with two outs, the Mavs scored two more runs with the help of back-to-back walks to Ashlee Duffy and Lisa Pille. Lita Romero's single to third moved Pille and Duffy to second and third base respectively. Vallie's then singled to left field, scoring Pille and Duffy. The Rangers finally got out of the inning on a called strike.

Jordan and Vallie tallied four of the Mavs six hits and combined for three RBI and two runs.

MSC (23-18) will await the winner of the Regis/Metro game. The team that advances to the title game will need to beat the Mavericks twice since MSC is undefeated in the double elimination tournament.
