RMAC All-Conference Teams
Mesa State men's tennis team placed five players on the RMAC All-Conference teams announced by the league office.
Senior Jordan Chomko was named to the All-RMAC First Team singles. Chomko is 17-8 overall at number one singles. Jordan is on a five match win streak. He and doubles partner Nick Provenza were named All-RMAC First Team doubles. The duo has a team high 20 (20-6) wins at the number one doubles position. Provenza (#4) was named to the All-RMAC Third Team for singles. He leads the team in singles victories with an overall record of 18-8.
Senior Rashad Khamis was named All-Conference Second Team. Khamis is 14-12 overall all at number two singles. He and doubles partner Niko Carrizo were named All-Conference Second Team at number two doubles. Khamis and Carrizo are 18-7 overall and on a five-match win streak.
Freshman Andres Hernandez was named All-Conference Third Team for his outstanding play at number three singles. Hernandez is 15-7 overall in singles and 18-5 in doubles with partner Brandon Hollabaugh.
Head Coach Dan MacDonald was named Co-Head Coach of the Year with Western New Mexico's Erik Burton.
Mesa State advanced to the finals of the RMAC Tournament held Friday and Saturday at the Jerry Cline Tennis Center in Albuquerque, N.M. The Mavs, seeded #2 in the tournament, defeated Colorado Christian 9-0 in the quarterfinals and beat Neb.-Kearney 5-4 in the semifinals.
Saturday morning MSC fell to #1 seed and host, Western New Mexico 5-0.
MSC finished second in the regular season standings at 4-1. Western New Mexico won the regular season title with a 6-0 mark.
The Mavericks are ranked #2 in the latest Central Region rankings and will find out Thursday if they will host a regional match. The top two teams in the region will host. WNMU is ranked #1 in the region.
