Sara Jordan pitched a no-hitter Saturday afternoon in an 8-0 win (run rule) over visiting Western New Mexico in game one of a scheduled doubleheader. Jordan beat the Mustangs in game two going seven innings in a 7-4 victory.
In Jordan no-hitter the junior faced 16 batters, walking two and striking out three. She went 1 for 3 at the plate and scored two runs.
MSC scored four runs in the first and two runs each in the second and third inning. MSC registered nine hits including two hits each from Whitney Bailey and Stacy Ball. The two combined for two runs scored and four RBI. MSC got solo homeruns from Danielle Vallie, Gabi Parra and Stacy Ball. Ball went 2-for-3 with two extra base hits.
Jordan picked up her ninth win of the season (9-7) in game two of the doubleheader. Jordan allowed four runs (2 earned) on 12 hits.
MSC tied the game in the fourth at 2-2 and pulled to within one run (3-4) after five innings. The Mavericks scored four runs in the sixth for a 7-4 lead and closed out the game on a double play ending the Mustangs threat.
Jordan and Katie Mitchell had two hits each; both Jordan's hits were homeruns coming in the fourth and fifth inning.
MSC will host the Mustangs in a doubleheader Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday's DH is the final regular season home games for the Mavs.
