Mavs Split Pod Doubleheader

W 10-2, L 10-8 vs. UCCS

Whitney Bailey and Sara Jordan combined for five of the Mavs 11 hits in a 10-2 win over UC-Colorado Springs Saturday in game one of a doubleheader.

Bailey went 2-for-3 with five RBI including a 3-run homerun in the fifth. Bailey's sacrifice fly in the sixth, scored pinch runner JJ Johnson, ending the game in the sixth on the run-rule (8-run lead after five innings). MSC registered 11 hits, seven extra base hits.

Jordan picked up win number seven allowing two runs on three hits while striking out four. She was 3-for-3 from the plate with 2 runs and 1 RBI.

In game two UCCS tallied 14 hits and held off a late Mav rally for the 10-8 victory. MSC had 12 hits including three each from Gabi Parra and Whitney Bailey. Parra and Bailey had a homerun in each game and combined for three runs and five RBI in game two. MSC stranded 13 base runners.

The loss dropped the Mavericks to 15-15 overall and 13-15 in RMAC action.

MSC will host Western New Mexico in its last regular season series this Saturday and Sunday at Bergman Field. Saturday's doubleheader begins at Noon. Sunday MSC will honor its seniors and the Mav Club will host a tailgate between games. Sunday's doubleheader begins at 11 a.m.
