Mesa men defeated visiting Metro State Saturday afternoon 9-0 to improve to 15-4 overall and 4-1 in RMAC action.
MSC won two doubles matches and earned a default at number three doubles. The Roadrunners were forced to play with four players due to injuries, resulting in three defaults at #3 doubles and #5 and #6 singles.
Mesa swept the top four singles matches, all in straight sets, for the dual victory. Rashad Khamis won 7-5, 6-2 at #2 singles, posting a 3-1 overall record this weekend. Khamis won both his singles matches (Western New Mexico, Metro) and went 1-1 in doubles action. Khamis' singles win over WNMU was the Mavs lone point in the dual. Despite winning the match due to default, Khamis had won the first set.
Number one singles player Jordan Chomko defeated Georgie Perez 6-3, 6-1. Andres Hernandez (7-5, 6-3) and Nick Provenza (6-1, 6-1) won at #2 and #3 singles respectively.
MSC will host The College of Idaho (NAIA) in a non-conference match-up Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
