#11-ranked Metro State (9-1, 6-0) swept Saturday's doubleheader at Bergman Field winning game one 4-2 and game two by the score of 6-1 over the Mavericks (3-3, 1-3).
Metro took a 2-1 lead after one inning and never trailed putting up a run in the fourth and sixth inning in game one.
MSC registered six hits including two each from Sara Jordan and Megan Smith.
In game two the Roadrunners jumped out to a 5-0 lead after four innings. MSC scored their lone run in the bottom half of the fourth. Metro added a run in the sixth for the 6-1 victory.
Metro and Mesa each recorded seven hits. MSC left five runners on base and the Roadrunners stranded eight.
MSC starter Danielle Axe (0-1) allowed five runs on four hits in 3.0 innings. Cierra Lard pitched 4.0 innings of relief, allowing one run on three hits, striking out four.
Metro starter Brittany Moss allowed one run on seven hits, striking out 10 Mavericks.
RMAC Player of the Week, Gabi Parra went 2 for 3, scoring the Mavs only run in game two.
Metro and Mesa will play a doubleheader Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
