Mavs clinch series at Chadron

L 5-1, W 11-8, W 6-1, W 17-1

MSC softball (6-8, 4-8 RMAC) extended their win streak to three games taking 3 of 4 games at Chadron State and snapping an eight game losing streak. The four game series was pushed back one day due to weather and was played Sunday and Monday in Chadron.

Chadron opened the four game series Sunday with a 5-1 victory. MSC bounced back in game two of the doubleheader and scored 11 runs on 13 hits for an 11-8 win.

Cierra Lard picked up the win going 6.0 innings allowing 8 runs on 13 hits, striking out seven batters. Freshman Wailana Borrero picked up her first collegiate save coming on in relief in the 7th inning.

Gabi Parra went 3 for 5 with 6 RBI and 1 run scored.

Monday's doubleheader sweep started with a 6-1 win in game one. Sara Jordan allowed 1 run on 4 hits striking out a season high nine batters. At the plate Jordan went 3 for 3 with 4 RBI and 1 run scored. MSC recorded 13 hits in the victory.

In the series finale MSC beat the Eagles 17-1 and ending the game in five innings on the run rule.

The Mavericks tallied 14 hits including multiple hits by Danielle Valli, Gabi Parra, Sara Jordan, Ashlee Duffy and Megan Smith.

Cierra Lard was credited with the win improving to 3-3 overall. Lard allowed 1 run on 3 hits, striking out 5 batters.

MSC will look to keep the win streak alive next week at Regis University. The Mavs four game series with the Rangers begins Saturday, March 27 at Noon in Denver.
