The Mesa State Wrestling team ended the dual season on a high note defeating the Colorado Mines Orediggers 24-12. The Mavericks won 5 of the 9 contested matches on the evening.
Freshman
Tyler Juby wrestled at 157 pounds and pinned Oredigger Ryan Sprackling in 51 seconds to improve his overall record to 12-6 on the season with a team leading 8 falls.
Senior
Chase Walker wrestled at 165 pounds, up from his usual 157 pounds. Walker took on Oredigger Jordan Larsen and won by a score of 9-3. Walker is now 17-7 on the season and with the win got his 50th win as a Maverick.
Sophomore
Trevor Stapp finally got an overtime win defeating Mines' Bryan Stansbury 3-2 in overtime. Stapp had lost his previous two overtime matches. Trevor now sits at 9-12 on the season.
Mesa State will now compete in the NCAA Super Region 4/RMAC Championships at Adams State on February 27th. The Top 4 finishers at each weight will go on to compete in the NCAA Championships on March 12th and 13th at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
