Mesa State starts the dual season off on Thursday night with the first of two duals with the Western State Mountaineers. Western State is currently ranked #6 in the most recent NWCA National Rankings. The Mountaineers are two-time defending RMAC Champs and are the favorite to win it again this season.
Looking at the lineups, Western State will put 8 seniors on the mat and are led by two-time All-Americans Charlie Pipher at 184 pounds, Donovan MacMahill at 197 pounds, and Charlie Alexander at heavyweight. The Mavericks will be led by Senior Shane Miller (Gardenersville, Nev.) at 197 pounds, Trevor Donarski (Powell, Wyo.) at 149 pounds and Jon Gappmaier (Salt Lake City, Utah) at 157 pounds.
Mesa State will travel to the UNK Loper Open on December 11th before taking off for the Christmas Break. The Mavericks will return to the mat for the Grand Canyon Duals on January 1st.
