Box Score Mesa State women's basketball team improved to 3-0 with a 55-47 over visiting Western Oregon Friday night in the Clarion Inn Thanksgiving Classic at Brownson Arena.
Tara Gehring led the Mavs with 13 points off the bench hitting 5-of-8 from the field, including 2-for-2 from the 3-point line. Gehring pulled down four rebounds.
Kelsey Sigl finished with 11 points and five rebounds. Katrina Selsor recorded a team high eight rebounds and added four points and four assists.
MSC led 29-26 at halftime with 20 of their 29 points coming in the paint. The two teams combined for 26 first half turnovers.
Western Oregon held the lead twice in the second half with their final lead coming at 10:39 remaining and clinging to a 42-41 lead. MSC went on a 6-0 run (47-42) and the Wolves answered back with a 5-0 run to tie the game at 47-47. The Mavs went on an 8-0 run to close out the game including 6-of-7 from the foul line.
WOU was led by Jamie Richardson's game high 16 points.
The Clarion Inn Thanksgiving Classic will continue Saturday night as the Mavs host Dixie State College at 5 p.m.
