Mavs run past Aggies 71-46

Mesa State women's basketball team improved to 2-0 on the year with a 71-46 win at Oklahoma Panhandle State Friday night in Goodwell, OK.

The Mavericks led from start to finish and quickly ran the lead to 25-8 with a 12-0 run with mid-way through the first half. MSC held a 37-19 halftime lead with a balanced attack and 51.7 percent shooting from the floor.

MSC had three players in double digits led by Katie Brady's (Cupp) game high 12 points. Alaina Brennan finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and a perfect 4-for-4 from the field. Kelsey Sigl recorded 10 points, six rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes of action.

MSC outrebounded the Aggies 40-23 while each team had 16 turnovers each.

MSC shot 50.9 percent (27-53) for the game and 33.3 % (4-12) from beyond the arc.

OPSU shot 32.1 percent (17-53) from the field and 20.0% (3-15) from the 3-point line.

Mesa State will return home for the Clarion Inn Thanksgiving Classic, November 26-27 at Brownson Arena. The Mavs will host Western Oregon in its home debut Thursday at 5 p.m. Saturday night the MSC will play Dixie State College at 5 p.m.
