Box Score Mesa State women's basketball team defeated Colorado College 89-39 on the road Wednesday night in the season opener for each team. MSC scored 52-first half points shooting 56.3 percent from the floor.
Five Mavericks scored in double digits led by Sharaya Selsor game high 23 points including 3-of-5 from the 3-point line. Tara Gehring finished with 15 points off the bench, hitting 5-of-7 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 from the foul line. Katrina Selsor added 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds and had four assists.
Kelsey Sigl and Alaina Brennan had 10 points each and combined for 11 rebounds. Katie Brady (Cupp) recorded a team high five assists and finished with four points.
MSC held Colorado College to 28 percent (14-50) shooting from the field and forced 23 Tiger turnovers. MSC out rebounded CC 45-23 and held the Tigers to just 4-of-16 shooting from beyond the arc.
The Mavs will travel to Goodwell, OK for a Friday night match up with Oklahoma Panhandle State.
MSC's home debut is November 26-27 as they host the Clarion Inn Thanksgiving Classic.
