Mesa State volleyball team advanced to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference semifinal tournament round with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-19) win over UC-Colorado Springs Thursday afternoon in Kearney, NE. 
No. 2 seed MSC dropped the first set to the No. 7 seed Mountain Lions before sweeping the final three sets and improving to 20-8 overall. The loss ends UCCS' season (16-13). 
Antoinette McCormick and Sarah Kemp led the Mavericks with 11 kills each. McCormick hit .421 in the match and added four blocks. Kemp tallied three of the Mavs 10 service aces. 
RMAC All-Conference selection, Meagan Bosch recorded her seventh double-double of the year with 10 kills, 10 digs and a game high six blocks. 
Lindsey Reed (Jefferson) finished with seven kills and four blocks. Rebecca Sellers had five kills. 
Senior setter and RMAC All-Conference honoree Tara King had 45 assists, 10 digs and five kills. Whitney Howard finished with a game high 20 digs. 
MSC had 53 kills to the Mountain Lions' 38. Each team had nine blocks and MSC recorded 10 service aces to UCCS' six aces. 
 In set one the Mavericks led 13-10 before UCCS rattled off four consecutive points for a 14-13 lead. MSC's last lead was 18-17 as the Mountain Lions won eight of the final 13 points to take a 1-0 match lead. 
 MSC took set two 25-17 without ever trailing and holding as much as an eight point lead on two occasions. 
 UCCS took a 2-0 lead in the third set before MSC won seven straight points for a 7-2 lead. The Mavericks held a 16-12 lead when the Mountain Lions won five consecutive points, four coming off MSC errors to take a 17-16 lead. MSC then went on a 9-3 run to close out the set and take a 2-1 set lead. 
 MSC clinched the quarterfinal victory in set four (25-19) with a .324 attack percentage and 17 kills. MSC jumped out to a 7-1 lead and led by as many as 10 points. UCCS climbed back in to the set with a six point run closing to with in 19-16. MSC extended the lead to 21-16 off back-to-back kills by McCormick. MSC closed out the match forcing an attack error by the Mountain Lions'. 
 MSC will play No. 3 seed Metro State College in the semifinal match-up Friday at 3:30 MST. The Roadrunners beat Western New Mexico 3-1 the tournaments first match of the day.
