The Mesa State Mavericks overcame a 20-0 deficit to beat the Eagles of Chadron State 30-20. Mesa State climbed back into the match thanks in large part to four pins, including two late in the third period. They also lost the first four matches then rallied back and won the last six.
Redshirt freshman Tyler Nelson got the rally started at 125 (the dual started at 174). Nelson defeated Dustin Stodola 4-2. Nelson's record improves to 2-3 in the RMAC and 12-12 overall. Stodola fell to 17-9.
Next came Chris Rubalcaba at 133 pounds. Rubalcaba squared off with Ryan Fillingame of Chadron. Rubalcaba's record improves to 17-10 while Fillingame's drops to 20-7.
It was then freshman Trevor Donarski's turn at 141 pounds. Donarski faced off with Eagle Hagen Guzman. Guzman got into trouble late in the third period and Donarski took advantage turning him and pinning him in 6:32. Donarski's record went to 16-9 while Guzman dropped to 2-12.
Tyler Juby kept the win streak alive at 149. Juby took care of business early pinning Eagle Jake Lords in 15 seconds. Juby's record goes to 10-5 while Lords drops to 2-10. The match score at that point was 21-20 Mesa State.

Senior Cole Johnson took to the mat to wrap up the night. With the match in hand, Johnson looked to get back on the winning track personally and did so winning 5-0 over Chadron State's Justin Dekok. Johnson had sat out the last four weeks with an elbow injury and is now healthy. Johnson improved to 3-7 while Dekok dropped to 8-15.
