Box Score Mesa women dropped a league match-up with visiting Western State Tuesday night in Brownson Arena 64-47, falling to 4-11, 3-7 RMAC.
MSC led 17-12 with 10:36 remaining in the first half when the Mountaineers went on a 26-0 run to end the first half and take a 38-17 halftime advantage. Western State out rebounded the Mavericks 26-13 in the first half including 19 defensive rebounds.
MSC shot 46.4 percent (13-28) in the second half but could not cut in to the double digit lead the Mountaineers secured in the first half. WSC shot 23 (15-23) free throws to the Mavs four (2-4) and out rebounded MSC 47-28.
Hannah Breidel led the team with 15 points off the bench. Katie Cupp recorded 10 points and a team high 6 rebounds.
WSC was led by Amber Murray's game high 25 points.
MSC will host Western New Mexico Thursday night at 6 p.m.
