Box Score Mesa State women's basketball team (4-9, 3-5) notched their first road victory of the season in a 65-62 win at New Mexico Highlands Friday night. It is the Mavs second consecutive win.
The Mavs had four players score double digits, led by Meagan Selvidge's 17 points. Selvidge had a game high 5 treys.
Hannah Breidel finished with 13 points and a game high 9 rebounds.
Alaina Brennan and Katie Cupp finished with 10 points each.
MSC trailed by double digits early in the game but closed out the first half with a 18-3 run including back-to-back treys by Breidel and Selvidge and a 33-30 halftime lead.
The Mavericks never trailed in the second half and shot 48.9 percent (23-47) for the game.
NMHU forced 22 turnovers, 14 in the second half, resulting in 19 points. The Cowgirls were led by Amanda Beauchamp's 17 points. The Mavericks out-rebounded NMHU 40-25.
MSC will look for their third straight win on the road at CSU-Pueblo Saturday night.
