Box Score University of Neb.-Kearney (3-9, 3-3) used a 23-5 run in the second half to pull away for the Mavericks (2-9, 1-5) on their way to a 74-62 win over Mesa State Saturday night in Kearney, Neb.
At 12:29 in the second half the Lopers broke a 47-47 tie and pushed the lead to 70-52 with 3:32 remaining in the game.
MSC Hannah Breidel led the Mavs in scoring with 13 points, 11 points in the first half. Katie Cupp finished with 10 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Alaina Brennan had a team high 6 rebounds and 3 steals and finished with 9 points.
UNK's Debi Johnson led all players with 31 points, including 9 of 19 from the 3-point line.
MSC returns home Saturday night for a match-up with UC-Colorado Springs. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
