The Maverick Women's Soccer team finished its Denver road trip 1-2. Mesa State lost to #13 Metro State 5-0 on Wednesday. The Mavericks came back and beat Colorado Christian on Friday 2-0 in Lakewood and finished the road trip losing to Colorado Mines 3-0 yesterday.
Against Metro State, The Roadrunners scored a goal in the 26th minute, on a ball goalkeeper
Alicia Kahler couldn't handle, and they never looked back. Metro State would find the net four more times to seal the RMAC victory, 5-0. Metro is currently in first place in the RMAC with a perfect 6-0 record and is 9-1 on the season.
On Friday against Colorado Christian, Junior
Natali Koen (Rio Rancho, NM) found the back of the net in the 34th minute. Koen took a pass from Junior
Daniela Ramirez (Rupert, ID) and scored in the top right corner of the goal for her team leading 3rd goal of the season.
Freshman
Kelci Crispe (Lakewood, CO) gave the Mavericks an insurance goal in the 54th minute to push the Maverick lead to 2-0. Crispe took a drop pass from Senior
Kira Brannan (Broomfield, CO) and scored over the Cougar goalie. It was Crispe's 2nd goal of the season.
Sophomore
Julia Rasmussen (Rio Rancho, NM) and Senior Kaitlan Bennett (Federal Way, WA) combined on the shutout.
In yesterday's match, the Orediggers never trailed. Colorado Mines scored in the 15th, 43rd, and 54th minute to secure the victory, 3-0 and maintain sole possesion of 3rd place in the RMAC.
The Mavericks currently sit in 5th place in the RMAC Standings.
Mesa State will be back in action this week at Walker Field as the take on the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls on Friday night at 7:00pm and the Regis Rangers on Sunday at 12:00pm.
