Jessica Rayman picked up her second victory in her second start at the NCAA Division II Central Regional pod tournament at Regis University Softball Field in Denver Saturday afternoon. The Mavericks beat CSU-Pueblo 8-3 scoring seven runs in the final four innings to remain the only unbeaten team. MSC advances to the championship game and will face the winner of CSU-Pueblo and Colorado Mines Sunday at Noon. The winner of the CSU-Pueblo and Colorado Mines game will have to beat the Mavericks twice on Sunday in the double elimination tournament.
Rayman allowed three runs on six hits in 4.0 innings. Sara Jordan picked up save number four, closing out the final 3.0 innings, allowing just one hit.
MSC tallied nine hits including Gabriella Parra's 3 for 3 day; 3 RBI and 2 runs. Ashlee Duffy gave the Mavericks the lead (4-3) for good on a 3-run homerun in the top of the fourth. MSC scored 2 runs in the fifth and two in the seventh to close out the scoring.
