Colorado School of Mines scored 3 runs in each of the first two innings on the way to a 6-0 shutout over Mesa State in the first round of the RMAC Softball Tournament in Denver. The loss drops the Mavericks in to the consolation round of the double elimination tournament. MSC will play the loser of the Adams State versus CSU-Pueblo game being played later today.
MSC had four hits and allowed the Orediggers 9 hits, eight of those coming in the first two innings. MSC's 4 hits came in innings two, three and four.
Starter Cierra Lard (3-4) took the loss giving up 5 runs on 5 hits. Sara Jordan pitched 4.2 innings of relief, allowing 1 run on 4 hits.
MSC will play the elimination game at 12:30 Thursday at Regis Softball Field.
