Saturday Split for Softball Team

Ashlee Duffy's 2-run walk-off homerun earned the Mavs a split Saturday afternoon at Bergman Field. Adams State scored 3 runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game. Duffy's homerun with one out in the bottom half of the seventh was her second homerun of the day and seventh this season. The Mavs won 9-7 after dropping game one 10-4.

Duffy finished 3 for 4 with 4 RBI and 3 runs. Designated player Sara Jordan went 3 for 3, hitting in 4 runs and hitting her 10th homerun of the year, a 3-run homerun in the third.  Danielle Vallie finished with 3 hits.

Senior Jessica Rayman pitched 1.0 inning in relief earning her sixth victory of the season.

In game one of the series Adams State scored 6 runs in the second and never trailed in a 10-4 win. MSC scored 2 runs each in the first and third inning and tallied five hits on the day.

Starter Sara Jordan allowed 8 runs on 11 hits. Jordan was 2 for 4 from the plate with a homerun and 3 RBI.

The two teams will wrap up regular season action in a doubleheader Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
