Mavs Sweep Doubleheader at WNMU

Extend Win Streak to Six

                MSC improved to 19-15 and extended their win streak to six games in a doubleheader sweep Saturday at Western New Mexico. MSC won 8-3 and 11-6.

                Sara Jordan picked up a win (10-5) in game one and a save (2) in game two. Jordan pitched a complete game allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and striking out two. At the plate she finished 3 for 4, including a two-run homerun in the first inning.

                MSC broke a 2-2 tie with four runs in the fourth. Kristen Silva's homerun to centerfield gave the Mavs the lead. Silva, Jamie Prather and Gabriella Parra each finished with 2 hits and combined for 4 RBI and 5 runs.

                In Game two Parra's 4 for 4 performance from the plate led the Mavs to an 11-6 win. MSC tallied 15 hits and saw five players register multiple hits. Parra and Ashlee Duffy had 3 RBI each. Duffy hit a 3-run homerun in the fifth inning capping off a 4-run inning and an 8-4 Maverick lead.

                Jessica Rayman notched her fifth victory with 4.1 innings of work. Jordan earned her second save of the year working 2.2 innings giving up one run on one hit and striking out four.

                MSC and WNMU will wrap up the four game series with a doubleheader Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
