Sara Jordan's three-run homerun in the fifth inning broke a 2-2 tie as the Mesa State (13-13, 9-11) softball team defeated visiting Fort Lewis College 5-3 in game one Wednesday night at Bergman Field.
Jordan (6-4) earned a complete game victory allowing three runs (one earned) on 11 hits.
In game two MSC jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a Lauren Cross three-run homerun in the first inning. Cross went 4 for 4 in the game. MSC extended the lead in the fourth scoring four runs and pulling ahead 7-0. Gabi Parra's three-run homerun was her fourth homerun on the season.
Fort Lewis closed the gap in their last at bat, scoring five runs in the top of seventh.
Starter Jessica Rayman improved to 4-4 with the victory. Rayman allowed three runs on eight hits in six innings of work. Jordan picked up her first save of the year closing out the seventh inning.
MSC travels to CSU-Pueblo this weekend for a four game series with the T-Wolves starting Saturday.
