Mavs Defeated by #4-Neb.-Kearney

Wenger & Walker Post Victories

                Number four ranked Nebraska-Kearney defeated the Mavericks 37-6 to improve their record to 13-5-0 overall and 4-1-0 in RMAC action. The Lopers first loss came Friday night in Gunnison to Western State College.

Chase Walker (157#) extended his RMAC dual victories to eight in a 2-1 decision over Keenan McCurdy from #4-University Nebraska-Kearney Saturday night in Brownson Arena. After a scoreless first period McCurdy took a 1-0 lead in period two on an escape. Walker tied the match at 1-1 on an escape and closed out the match after being awarded a stall point. Walker is now 22-4 on the year.

                Jason Wenger posted a 4-0 decision at 141 pounds over Cody Lambotte in the second match of the evening. Wenger had a takedown in period 1 and collected a stall point and riding time point for in the 4-0 win.

                MSC posted two victories in the dual losing the remaining eight matches by way of three major decisions, two technical falls and one pin, one decision and one forfeit. The Mavericks were forced to forfeit at 165 pounds due to Cole Johnson's injury Friday night.  Johnson's status in unknown for Sunday afternoon's dual against San Francisco State.

                The Lopers won major decisions at 133#, 149 and 184. Number one ranked Marty Usman (174#) notched his 34th win of the season with a technical fall. The Lopers also picked up a technical fall victory at 197#. UNK's pin came in the heavyweight bout.

                MSC closes out their home schedule Sunday afternoon at 1 pm versus San Francisco State (7-5-0, 2-1-0).
