Box Score Having barely lost their last game in overtime Friday night at Adams State (80-78) the Mavericks had high hopes that they would be able to persevere on the road at Fort Lewis College. The Skyhawks had a nearly perfect record of 19-1 (12-0 RMAC) while the Mavericks entered the game 3-17, 1-11 in league play. In the end the Skyhawks prevailed 83-53.
Hannah Breidel led the way for the Mavericks with 14 points; all coming in the first half. Abby Hancock finished with 14 points and Stephanie Delgado posted 10 points before fouling out.
FLC held a 39-27 halftime lead, hitting 15-of-29 from the floor. The Skyhawks quickly extended their lead in the second half going on a 14-2 run and a 25 point lead with just under 10 minutes remaining in regulation. The Skyhawks shot 51.9 percent (28-54) from the field and held a 36-21 rebounding edge.
Mesa State returns home for a four game home stand beginning Tuesday night versus Western State College. Thursday night the Mavs will host Western New Mexico.
