Box Score Stephanie Delgado posted her fourth double-double of the season, scoring 19 points and pulling down 13 rebounds in the Mavericks 79-69 win over Western New Mexico at Brownson Arena Thursday night. The win improved the Mavs record to 5-18 overall and 2-13 in league play.
Alishea Kelly finished with 14 points off the bench and starters Heather Habekost finished with 12 points (10-10 free throws) and Hannah Breidel recorded 11 points, hitting 3-of-4 from the 3-point line.
MSC held a 43-31 halftime lead and extended the lead to 16 points at the 10 minute mark of the second half. The Mustangs went on an 18-8 scoring run to pull to within six points with 3:46 remaining in regulation. MSC answered with a 12-8 and their second league victory of the season.
The Mavericks shot 43.6 percent (24-55) from the field and out-rebounded the Mustangs 42-35. WNMU had two players in double figures including Dana Alexander's game high 20 points.
MSC will close out the regular home season schedule next Friday and Saturday when the host league-leading Fort Lewis College on Friday. Adams State College will visit Saturday night. Both games are set to tip-off at 6 p.m.
