Box Score Mesa State fell to host Western Oregon Saturday night 64-55 at the Western Oregon/Phoenix Inn Shootout in Monmouth, Oregon. The loss dropped the Mavs to 0-2 and will make their home debut Monday night, November 30, 5 p.m. at Brownson Arena.
MSC held a 33-29 halftime led by Meagan Selvidge's 14-first half points, including 4 for 4 from the 3-point line. The two teams combined for 21 turnovers.
The Mavericks extended the lead to 10 points with 14:37 remaining in regulation. Western Oregon closed the gap to four on back-to-back treys. The Wolves went on a 14-2 run to take a two point lead (50-48) and outscored MSC 35-22 in the second half. WOU hit 12 of 30 from behind the arc, including 7-second half treys.
Jennifer Landers recorded a double-double finishing with a team high 16 points and 10 rebounds. Selvidge finished with 14 points and four rebounds. WOU out rebounded the Mavericks 34-28 including 12 offensive rebounds. MSC had 23 turnovers and WOU 19.
MSC will return to action at home on Monday, November 30 at 5 p.m. versus Northern New Mexico.
