MSC women's golf team won the Regis Invitational with a two-round total 620 (317, 303), 26 strokes ahead of second place Montana State Billings' 646 (325, 321). MSC held a three-stroke lead following day one and shaved 14 strokes off their day two round of 303, running away with their third team title in four tournaments.
Jennifer Hilts won top honors carding a two round 151 (76, 75). In the three RMAC fall tournaments, Hilts has one title, a third place finish at CSU-Pueblo (T-Wolf Invitational) and a fifth place at Adams State (Grizzly Invitational).
Jessica Berve placed second with 155 (80, 75). Junior college transfer Kristina Casillas tied for third with 156 (81, 75). All three of the Mavs tied for the low round of the day with 75.
Michelle Stripp tied for sixth with 158 (80, 78) and Afton Balling's 161 (83, 78) tied for 11th. All five Mavs cut at least one stroke off their round one score, including Casillas' who cut six strokes in round two (81, 75).
Hilts led from start to finish and placed first in par 3 scoring (+1), birdies (5) and par 5 scoring (-3). Berve and Casillas each recorded 22 pars and Hilts tallied 21 pars.
As a team MSC led the nine team field in pars (101), par 4, par 5 and birdies (14).
MSC will showcase their talent at home this Monday and Tuesday, October 12-13 at the Quality Inn Fall Invitational at Tiara Rado Golf Course. Monday's action will tee off at 9 a.m.
