SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team teed off this morning (Sept. 20) at the Wasatch Invitational at Glenmoor Golf Club. The Mavericks are one of 14 schools competing in this year's field with the entire field coming from the West and South Central regions.
 
The Mavericks are in ninth place with a team score of 311 after the first round. They are within 10 strokes of the top five with most teams within two strokes of each other up and down the team leaderboard. Menlo is Colorado Mesa's closest opponent just two strokes ahead.
 
Point Loma currently leads the field at 284 with host Westminster 13 strokes behind in second place.
 
Junior Hunter Gledhill had a solid round finishing with a 2-over, 74 and is in a tie for 12^th place. Gledhill caught fire on the back nine as she had three consecutive birdies from hole 13 to hole 15. Her one real blemish came on hole 6 where she doubled the par-4 410 yard hole.
 
Hayden Hawley and Libby Bourassa each shot 6-over, 78s as both and both had similar rounds. Each had one birdie in the round with Hawley carding five bogeys and a double and Bourassa finishing with seven bogeys.
 
Allison Sanger and Brooke Brekke checked in at 9-over, 81 as they tied as the Mavericks final scorer of the round.
 
Point Loma had the first three golfers on the individual leaderboard and all shot 2-under, 70.
 
The Mavericks will finish out the tournament tomorrow with the final round set to tee off at 8:30 AM.
