SHERIDAN, Wyo. – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team continued action at the Travis Roy Memorial on Monday (Sept. 14) at Powder Horn Golf Club. Today marked the second of three rounds for the tournament with several needing to complete their opening round early in the day.
 
The Mavericks completed their first round in the morning before beginning their second round later in the morning. Colorado Mesa improved their score by four strokes from round one to round two and currently sit in seventh on the team leaderboard. Their 68-over, 644 is 20 strokes better than eighth-place Saint Martin's and just six strokes back of sixth-place Montana State Billings.
 
Westmont jumped into the lead after round two moving up two slots. CSU Pueblo is in second while Westminster is in third at 613.
 
Newcomer Allison Sanger led the Mavericks in round two with a 6-over, 78 which was eight strokes better than her opening round score. Sanger moved up 11 spots on the individual leaderboard after carding three birdies in her round paired with five bogeys and two double bogeys or worse.
 
Hayden Hawley and Libby Bourassa each fired an 8-over, 80. Hawley had three birdies and nine holes of bogey or worse while Bourassa had one birdie with seven holes of bogey or worse.
 
Brooke Brekke rounded out the Maverick scorers in round two with a 10-over, 82.
 
Westmont's Cooper Gilmore continues to lead the tournament after shooting 1-under, 71 in the second round. Gilmore now sits at 143 two strokes up on a golfer from CSU Pueblo.
 
The third and final round will begin tomorrow morning.
