COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Three Colorado Mesa University Maverick baseball student-athletes in
Jackson Lapiner,
Justin Schramm and
CJ Zwahlen were all named to the First Team Academic All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference team, conference officials announced on Monday.
The trio also led a dozen Mavericks named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.

The 13-man First Team Academic All-RMAC squad was selected by a vote of the conference's athletics communications directors, who were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average, be in at least their second consecutive year at their nominating institution and have used a season of eligibility.
Honor roll recognition requires a 3.30 or higher GPA as well as meeting the other criteria.
Lapiner, who doubles as a relief pitcher and one of the Mavs' designated hitters, holds a 3.74 GPA and is majoring in sport management. At the plate, he has a .380 batting average with 19 hits in 50 at bats and has recorded ten extra-base hits, including four home runs while driving in 12 runs. The Sherman Oaks, California native and redshirt junior has also made nine appearances out of the Maverick bullpen and has registered 15 strikeouts in 11 innings while holding opposing hitters to a .231 batting average.
He was also named to the RMAC All-Tournament team after helping lead the Mavs to their fourth straight crown earlier this month.
Schramm, a sophomore right-hander from Bend, Oregon, holds a 4.00 GPA and is majoring in mechanical engineering. He is one of the Mavs' most-used relievers and made 16 appearances including one start, throwing 27 1/3 innings to date. He has posted a 4-0 record, a 4.28 ERA and has recorded 36 strikeouts while holding opposing hitters to a .259 batting average.
He was also named as the RMAC Pitcher of the Week on Mar. 3 after recording seven strikeouts in a 3.2-inning long relief appearance against nationally-ranked Augustana on Feb. 26.
Zwahlen, a senior right-handed pitcher out of Laguna Niguel, California, holds a 3.83 GPA and is majoring in exercise science. He has posted a 3.12 ERA in 16 appearances, including two starts spanning 26 total innings. He has an impressive 1.12 WHIP and has recorded 19 strikeouts while holding opposing batters to a .253 batting average.
He also has two saves and just recorded a season-high five strikeouts in a long 4.1 inning relief appearance in CMU's come-from-behind NCAA South Central Tournament win over Lubbock Christian on Thursday night.
The nation's top-ranked Mavericks hold a 52-5 overall record and will host the NCAA Division II South Central Super Regional this week, beginning Thursday night against No. 10 UT Tyler at The Diamond at Hamilton Ballpark.
