INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The field of 56 teams was released on Sunday (May 10) evening for the NCAA Baseball National Tournament. The tournament is comprised of 16 regional hosts from the country's eight regions with the winner of each region advancing to the NCAA National Championships in Cary, N.C. at the USA Baseball Training Complex.
Colorado Mesa was awarded the No. 1 seed in the South Central Region and will be hosting for the first time since 2024. The Mavericks are 49-5 on the season and won the RMAC Tournament for the fourth straight season and 24
th overall tournament championship.
The Mavericks are making their 25
th appearance in the tournament and have compiled a 49-50 overall record in the NCAA Tournament. The last time that Colorado Mesa didn't make the tournament came in 2008.
St. Mary's and Lubbock Christian will be making the trip to Grand Junction as the No. 4 and No. 5 seed respectively. Lubbock Christian came to the NCAA South Central Regional in 2023 while St. Mary's came to Grand Junction in 2015 when Colorado Mesa hosted the tournament at Suplizio Field.
The tournament is set to kick off on Thursday at 3pm with St. Mary's and Lubbock Christian with the loser playing Colorado Mesa at 7pm.
