CMU to MLB: Andrew Morris gets the call from the Minnesota Twins

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The top-ranked Colorado Mesa baseball team received some exciting news in the middle of their game on Friday (Apr. 10) against UCCS. Former Maverick standout pitcher Andrew Morris was called up to MLB by the Minnesota Twins from Triple-A Saint Paul.

Morris is the second Maverick to pitch in Major League Baseball this season joining Kyle Leahy who is currently in the rotation with the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Boulder, Colo. native made an appearance in Sunday's game with the Toronto Blue Jays where he pitched three innings of relief and allowed one run on six hits and struck out two during his MLB debut. He earned strikeouts against Eloy Jimenez and Brandon Valenzuela in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Morris was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the fourth round (114 overall) of the 2022 MLB Amateur Draft.

During his time at Colorado Mesa, Morris was 18-2 with 3.23 ERA in over 175 innings pitched. He struck out 215 batters which still ranks fifth on the program's all-time chart.

The Twins are scheduled to play at home at Target Field in the Twin Cities beginning on Monday against the Boston Red Sox.
