COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Earning this award for the fourth time this season, Colorado Mesa men's basketball player Ty Allred was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week this afternoon as released by conference officials.
Allred has now been selected as either the offensive or defensive player of the week for the conference in week's six, seven, 11 and 14. He ties Aidan McDowell of Western Colorado now as the only two players to earn four selections on the season.
This past week, Allred helped CMU to a 1-1 record while leading all scorers in each game played.
In Tuesday's game against Westminster, he scored 28 points with seven rebounds before leading the Mavs in a senior night victory over Western Colorado with 26 points.
He finished the week shooting 18-for-35 while hitting eight three-pointers and going 10-for-12 from the free throw line.
This season Allred ranks second in the RMAC in points per game with 18.9 while also being third in rebounding at 7.5. He has scored in double figures in 23 of the Mavs' 26 games.
In addition, Allred eclipsed 1,000 career points this past week with him now owning 1,040 in his five years at CMU.
Brian Unachukwu from MSU Denver joins Allred as the other honoree this week as he named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
Colorado Mesa will take on South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State this week on Thursday and Saturday for their final two games of the regular season. Streaming for both games be found through the RMAC Network.
