GLENDALE, Ariz.— The Colorado Mesa University women's tennis team had a nearly flawless day, picking up a 4-0 NCAA Division II South Central Region win over Western New Mexico University on Friday afternoon here at the Paseo Racquet Center before heading to the nearby Surprise Tennis Center to claim another 4-0 win over NAIA Ottawa University of Arizona in an evening encounter.
The Mavs, who improved to 5-5 overall and more importantly to 3-2 against Division II opposition, won every completed match in both singles and doubles throughout the day.
Both duals were played to clinch.

Sophie Hartman went 4-0 throughout the day to help lead the Maverick efforts.

The Mavericks were able to sweep the three doubles matches and then picked up straight-set singles wins from Hartman,
Jade Brilhante and
Valentina Gonzalez as the Mustangs dropped to 3-3 on the season after winning two matches on Thursday.
In doubles, the all-freshman duo of Gonzalez and Hartman, dominated Xaveira Melgar and Sofija Krstic, 6-1 in the third flight.
Devyn Rodriguez and Brilhante then claimed a 6-4 win over Josefina Bailetti and Eva Guta in the top flight before
Delia Maier and
Catalina Ballon claimed a 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 2 doubles over Nikoletta Pytel and Lucia Carmena.
Hartman was the first to finish her singles match, winning 6-3, 6-0 over Krstic at No. 6.
Meanwhile, Brilhante was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Carmena at No. 3 before Gonzalez finished off Pytel, 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2.
The Mavericks also held leads in the other three singles matches.
Notably, Rodriguez was up 6-2, 5-4 on Bailetti, ranked 15
th in the ITA's South Central Regional Rankings.

The Mavericks also swept the doubles matches against the Spirit, who fell to 0-6 on the season. The Mavs won 6-1 at both No. 2 and 3 before Rodriguez and Brilhante beat Martina Antich and Michelle Pugh, ranked 20
th in the ITA's NAIA National Doubles Rankings.
Meanwhile, the Mavs dropped just three games in the trio of completed singles matches as they cruised to the win while giving Rodriguez, ranked 35
th nationally in NCAA Division II, a rest during the singles wave.
Hartman, who got the nod at No. 4 was the first to win, claiming a 6-1, 6-0 win over Nikola Rusinova.
Ballon then delivered a 6-1, 6-1 win over Sienna Johnson at No. 3 before
Jane Steur capped the dual with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
The other three matches were left unfinished.

The Mavericks will close out their Arizona trip on Saturday morning taking on another NAIA foe in Arizona Christian. That match is now slated for 11 a.m. at the Paseo Racquet Center.
