Mavericks Continue Home Stretch Against CSM and CSU Pueblo

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- After earning two more conference wins, the Colorado Mesa University women's soccer team wrap up their four-game homestand with matches against Colorado School of Mines and CSU Pueblo.

The Mavericks face the Orediggers on Friday at 7 p.m. and then play the Thunderwolves on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Both games will be livestreamed on the RMAC Network and will have live stats available.

Last Time Out
The Mavs hosted both New Mexico Highlands and Adams State; they scored a combined nine goals and shutout both teams.

Brooklyn Baird and Jenelle Arenibas both scored a brace against the Cowgirls while Olivia Bariao-Arce, Katelyn Romano and Sarah Dunn also added to the goal total as well. Ellie Duncan and Baird scored in the match against the Grizzlies, which also marked Senior Day as the Mavs celebrated their eight seniors after the game.

RMAC Honors
The Mavs have been given RMAC Player of the Week three times thus far, claiming all three categories at least once this season.

Olivia Barrett won back-to-back Defensive Player of the Week awards while Keely Wieczorek won her nineth career Goalkeeper of the Week honors, the most ever by a Mavs player.

Ellie Duncan also won Offense Player of the Week, the first Mav to do so since Sauvelyne Randel back in 2024.

RMAC Standings
Regis remains in first place with a perfect 8-0 record and has already clinched a berth in the RMAC Tournament. Black Hills State sits in second place with 19 points with CMU behind them with 18 points.

UCCS are in fourth with 16 points while Fort Lewis has won four games in a row and sit in fifth.

Colorado School of Mines are sixth with 14 points while Westminster are behind them has 11 points. Western Colorado finds themselves in eighth place with seven points.

CSU Pueblo, Colorado Christian and MSU Denver all have four points while Adams State sit in second-to-last with three points. New Mexico Highlands have yet to earn a point.

NPI Rankings
The first iteration of the NPI regional rankings came out, and CMU are ranked 8th in the South-Central Region. Dallas Baptist is a perfect 12-0 and place in first with Midwestern State just behind in second. Texas Women's round out the top three. Five RMAC teams are placed in the top ten alongside CMU: Regis (#3), UCCS (#4), Colorado School of Mines (#5), Black Hills State (#6) and Fort Lewis (#9).

Offensive Outburst
The offense was certainly on display in these past two games with six different goal scorers totaling nine goals. The Mavs also racked up nine total assists as well.

Duncan still leads the team in goals with six while Mairs, Arenibas, Bariao-Arce and Baird all have three.

Mairs has been putting on a clinic in the assist category as she put up four in the last two games, bringing her total to six. She is currently tied for sixth place in the single season assist record; the record is 13 set by Annie Maddock back in 1998.

Defensive Dominance
The defense has continued to be impressive as they racked up two more shutouts, extending their shutout total to eight. They've only given up six goals, good for 0.50 goals per game. They've only given up more than ten shots in a game four times this season and didn't allow a single shot in their fixture against MSU Denver.

The tandem of Dunn, Barrett, Kylie Hoffman and Ella Speerschneider have all had a hand in making one of the best defenses in the region.

Wieczorek Eyeing Career Shutouts Record
Wieczorek has already had an historic career for the Mavs, but she is on pace to break yet another record, the RMAC career shutouts record.

The record right now is 44 and Wieczorek stands at 42, just two away from tying the record. She will have an opportunity to tie that record with these next two games.

About Colorado School of Mines
While they are the reigning RMAC Tournament Champions, the Orediggers so far have amassed an overall record of 8-2-3 and a conference record of 4-1-2.

Their main source of offensive output has been recent RMAC Offensive Player of the Week Bella Campos, who has scored 15 of the 31 goals the Orediggers have scored. She has scored seven goals in the past four games, so she will look to continue her impressive season. She also leads the team in assists with six.

Goalkeeping duties have been split between Brekyn Davenport-Murrish and Keira Garcia. Both have combined for 28 saves with Davenport-Murrish making 12 saves and Garcia 16.

About CSU Pueblo
The Thunderwolves currently have an overall record of 3-8-2 and a conference record of 1-5-1 with their lone win coming against MSU Denver.

Bailey Reedy leads the team in goals with three while Jenna Elledge and Ruthie Landwehr both lead the team in assists with two.

Peppi Niemi and Ella Bulfer have split time between the goalposts have a combined 21 saves between the two of them. Niemi has the vast majority with 20.
