COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University's
Megan Hodges was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The honor comes after the redshirt senior out of Aurora, Colorado, finished third overall and as the top NCAA Division II and RMAC runner at Saturday's Roadrunners Invitational in Denver.
Hodges finished the 6-kilometer course in 21 minutes, 58.9 seconds and led the Maverick women to a second place team finish out of nine teams. Only NCAA Division I Colorado State, which had the top two individual finishers and four out of the top six, finished higher.
The Mavericks were ahead of seven RMAC squads, including four ranked above them in last week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's NCAA Division II Coaches' Poll.
Hodges was 12.2 seconds ahead of the next best RMAC runner in Saturday's race and has now turned in top five finishes in both of CMU's meets this season. Her time was just 0.2 seconds off her career 6K best, set at last year's RMAC Championships in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
The Mavericks will next race on Oct. 11 at the Lewis Crossover Invite in Romeoville, Illinois, their final regular season race before the Oct. 25 RMAC Championships.
