CMU women pick up 24th straight honor

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— The Colorado Mesa University men's and women's swimming and diving squads have both been recognized for their continued academic strength as each were named CSCAA (College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America) Scholar All-America Teams for the recently completed 2025 spring semester, it was announced by the organization this week.

The Maverick women have achieved the honor in each of the last 24 semesters dating back to the fall of 2013.  The Maverick men have now been selected in 16 out of the last 17 semesters.

The Maverick women earned the honor after posting a team GPA of 3.56 during the semester. The men had had a GPA of 3.50.

A total of 763 programs from 432 institutions earned the honor, which required CSCAA member programs to have a 3.00 or higher team GPA during the semester.  These teams, representing a total of 18,459 student-athletes, were chosen based on their outstanding academic performance during the semester.

The Maverick squads also shined in the pool during the semester, sweeping the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference titles for the seventh straight year before going on to impressive third (women's) and ninth (men's) place finishes at the NCAA Division II National Championships.

Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA, praised the honorees, "These teams exemplify what it means to be true student-athletes. Their dedication to academic excellence, alongside their athletic commitments, is both impressive and inspiring. The CSCAA is proud to recognize and celebrate their hard work and achievement."
