NORMAN, Okla.— Colorado Mesa University senior men's golfer
Cole Beyer received NCAA Division II PING All-Region accolades, which were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday.
The senior out of Woodburn, Oregon is the first Maverick since Trevor McCune in 2017 to receive all-region recognition, which was bestowed upon just 12 players from the South Central Region, one of eight regions from around the country.
He had a record-setting season in 2024-25, smashing the Maverick program record for scoring average with a mark of 69.45 strokes per round. He also won a program-record four events and recorded seven top-5 and eight top-10 finishes in 12 events.
Beyer is ranked eighth in the country and sixth best in the region according to the SCOREBOARD Powered by clippd NCAA Division II Individual Rankings and led the Mavericks to a No. 29 team ranking and their sixth straight NCAA Super Regional appearance last week.
He finished at par or better in 26 of his 33 rounds throughout the season and recorded a low round of 63 in the final round to claim victory at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite in early October. He also tallied a 13-under par tournament score of 197 at that event, five shots better than the former Maverick program record for a 54-hold tournament score.
