Livingston goes over century mark in 7-0 sweep of ThunderWolves

Senior joins elite company with 50th singles win

PUEBLO, Colo.— Makenna Livingston claimed her 50th career singles win and the 100th and 101st total wins of her strong Colorado Mesa University tennis career to help lead the Mavericks to a 7-0 blowout win over short-handed CSU Pueblo in both team's regular season finale on Sunday morning here at the Pueblo City Park Tennis Courts.

Livingston teamed with Delia Maier for a 6-1 No. 2 doubles win over the ThunderWolves' Yelena Travica and Malaya Pendon to reach the 100-win mark, with what was her 51st doubles triumph.

In singles, Livingston helped the Mavs to a sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Marta Garcia in the top flight.

Ranked 67th in the latest ITA NCAA Division II singles rankings, Livingston is now just the 15th Maverick to reach the 50-win mark in singles.  Kristen Kirby had been the last to reach the milestone in 2020.

Livingston is also just the 14th Maverick in program history to have reached the century mark and is one of just 13 to have 50 or more wins in both disciplines.

The Mavs were playing against a Pack team that was able to field a lineup of just five players for the second time in a week.

The Mavs conceded just eight total games in all five of the on-court singles matches and also received a 7-5 win over No. 1 pair Devyn Rodriguez and Jade Brilhante as the Mavs swept the doubles point over the Pack, who could not play in the third flight.

Rodriguez defeated Margo Aebischer, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 singles while Brilhante was nearly flawless in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Travica at No. 3 singles.  Maier also won 6-1, 6-0 over Pendon at No. 4 while CMU's Catlina Ballon Marin blanked MaKayla Martinez, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.

Jane Steur won by default at No. 6 singles afer she and Ballon Marin won by default at No. 3 doubles.

The Mavericks improved to 15-11 with the team win and have now defeated the ThunderWolves (2-12) 44 straight times since 2007.

CMU will now head into the Pacific West Conference Tournament, which will begin Wednesday in Surprise, Arizona.  The final seeds and bracket have not yet been announced.
