LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Star softball player, Myah Arrieta was named to this year's NFCA Division II National Player & Pitcher of the Year Watchlist this afternoon as announced by the organization.
The list includes 15 student-athletes from each of the eight NCAA Division II regions and was compiled by the elected members of the NFCA Division II All-American Committee of the region's top players.
This marks the second time in Arrieta's career that she has earned this recognition after also being named to the watchlist last season and ultimately being selected as an All-American by the committee as well.
This season Arrieta has proven to be one of the most dangerous bats in the country as the senior is hitting .495 with an on base percentage of .590 and slugging .968. She has accumulated 47 hits to this point with 33 RBIs in the team's leadoff position. In addition, she owns 12 home runs which leads the team.
Arrieta has hit two or more home runs in four conference series this year with her hitting four in the team's sweep of Adams State.
In the conference rankings Arrieta sits in the top three of nine different offensive categories while being the leader in hits and runs. She helps bolster an offense that leads the conference in home runs as well with 40.
The Mavericks, who sport a 22-8 overall and 20-4 RMAC record, will look to continue their 16-game winning streak this weekend when they host the CSU Pueblo Thunderwolves in a 4-game series on Saturday and Sunday. Doubleheaders are slated for Noon on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.
