GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Setter
Sabrina VanDeList became the third Colorado Mesa University volleyball player to eclipse the 4,000 career milestone as she doled out 36 in a dominant Thursday night home-opening win over Cal Poly Humboldt here at Brownson Arena.
VanDeList, who now has 4,020 career helpers, distributed the ball well to a variety of hitters as the Mavericks hit a season-best .333 as a team in the 25-12, 25-16, 25-16 win over the Lumberjacks, who had won their last three matches coming in.
VanDeList joined program-record holder Jordyn Moody (4,202; 2011-14) and Jeanie Sutter (4,138, 1995-98) as the only Mavericks to ever eclipse the milestone.
CMU, ranked 15
th in the national poll coming in, improved to 4-1 on the young season while the Lumberjacks fell to 3-2 while hitting just .036 on the night.

Sydney Leffler recorded 15 kills on a .522 attack percentage as VanDeList's favorite target. Right side hitter
Sierra Hunt also chipped in ten kills while middle
Nicole Martin connected for eight kills on her first nine swings before finishing the night with a .538 attack percentage.
Fellow middle
Stormi Tadlock also added five kills on .417 hitting.
The Mavs finished the match with 44 kills while holding the Lumberjacks to just 21. CMU also took advantage of 18 Humboldt hitting errors in the match, which lasted just 68 minutes.
Defensively, Maverick libero
Allison Waller led all players with nine digs while VanDeList chipped in another eight. VanDeList also had two service aces, her 149
th and 150
th of her career, moving to within three of the CMU all-time record of 153, held by Drew Choules since 2007.
VanDeList recorded 11 assists in the opening set as the Mavs hit .367 in the opening frame that they led throughout. She then reached the milestone with her fifth second-set assist, which Martin put down for a kill to give the Mavs an 11-8 lead in that set.
The Lumberjacks would pull within 13-11 a few players later but could not answer a 7-3 run as the Mavs finished the second set hitting .393.
The third set was similar as the Mavs jumped out to a 12-7 lead with a 5-1 run behind the serving of
Jordan Woods and Martin. CMU then went on another 5-0 run that featured a Tadlock kills and block and two other Lumberjack kills to go ahead 20-11 before cruising to the set and match victory, which was sealed on two Lumberjack miscues.
The Mavericks will continue the Holiday Inn Express Maverick Classic on Friday, playing MSU Moorhead in the final match of the day at 7:30 p.m. The Dragons (3-2 overall) from Minnesota were 4-set winners over Cal State Dominguez Hills (2-3) in the opening encounter of the 12-match tournament.
Four other matches will be played before the Mavs take the court on Friday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. when Adams State and Angelo State will square-off.
